This slide shows a cross-section of lapse rate of equivalent potential temperature (shaded; unstable shaded yellow/green, stable shaded red/white), and vertical circulation valid at 06 UTC on the 9th. The sloping frontal boundary shows up as a (white) very stable layer. The most mid-level instability was located above the northwestern heavy rain band. The "feeder" band was located near the southeastern edge of the frontal band.
