The Syracuse sounding at 00z on the 30th indicated moderately strong low-level shear. The flow became well aligned above 850 mb. The primary inversion height was around 820 mb. A modest snow-growth area is indicated. In summary, this sounding would support lake effect snow, but does not appear supportive of an unusually intense event.
