Summary

  • A west-northwest flow at low and mid-levels, with embedded short-waves, resulted in an extremely heavy lake effect snow event for our far northern cwa.

  • The event appeared to be enhanced by strong low-level convergence resulting from a stable, sheared environment south of the snow band.

  • Amounts were also enhanced by the fact that the band did not move much for over 48 hours.
