The weather pattern on May 12 featured a large upper-level ridge over the eastern United States. A strong upper jet was located over eastern Canada. Northeast Pennsylvania was far removed from the upper jet, but could be considered to be located at the edge of the right entrance region. No upper level divergence associated with the jet was located near northeast Pennsylvania, however the circulation associated with the jet may have acted to increase the low-level southwesterly flow. (the low-level jet associated with this case will be shown later).
