Eta 0-hr analyses of 250 mb heights (green contours), wind speeds (shaded), and divergence (white contours). Tan wind barbs represent Eta 0-hr 850 mb winds. All analyses are for 12z, 9/16/04. Note the pronounced upper-level divergence that has developed to the north of Ivan over the Tennessee Valley. This divergence is within the right-entrance region of a developing jet maximum over the Lower Ohio Valley. The strength of the aforementioned jet maximum has likely been enhanced from warm upper-level outflow from Ivan itself.
