This slide shows some basic parameters from the NAM forecast sounding at SYR valid at 06z on the 3rd, at the time when the sounding appeared to be very favorable for a significant lake effect snow event. These parameters can be entered into a locally developed application that searches a local data base for similar events. The user can then query the data base to return information on these similar events, in order to anticipate a range of possible outcomes with the current event.
