Model low-level wind and convergence fields indicated development of a narrow convergence band overnight, centered near Syracuse. 
              
              
                 BUFKIT soundings indicated a favorable wind direction, deep moisture, a high inversion, and plenty of upward motion in the dendritic snow growth area for several hours early on the 3rd. 
              
              
                 The 3 most similar events in our data base all involved significant snow bands near or just north of Syracuse, with accumulations of up to a foot in northern Onondaga County.
