This NAM 30 hour forecast diagnostic shows that a pronounced area of upward vertical motion, associated with mid-level, sloping frontogenesis, would be collocated with near zero values of EPV in an area near saturation, approximately 90 miles east of BGM at 3/1 06 UTC. Note that the convention in this and following slides will be negative EPV shaded green, and weakly positive EPV shaded light blue.
