Final conclusion regarding the all important model QPF…

  • Recall that the NAM forecast between 0.75 and 1.00 inches of QPF.

  • Recall that the GFS forecast between 0.30 and 0.50 inches.

  • A compromise forecast (0.40 to 0.75 inches) along with assuming snow to liquid ratios of approximately 15 to 1 would have been best in this case (at least through 12 UTC on the 1st).
