The precipitation changed to rain in the Wyoming Valley by 18 UTC, however temperatures remained below freezing at higher elevations southeast and east of the Wyoming Valley. The result was a major ice storm for the higher elevations around Hazelton, and also farther east, in southern Wayne County and Pike County.
