Radar Evolution/Resultant Snowfall

  • Initial short-wave sweeps convective line of rain/snow showers across the region between 00z and 03z on the 25th

    • Several reports of thunder-snow across PA

  • Later on, during the pre-dawn hours, lake-enhanced snow showers become more widespread

    • Good forcing ahead of upstream short-wave

    • Air mass only marginally cold enough for lake effect mechanics to really kick in at that point

  • By 12z-14z on the 25th, some 3-4" snowfall amounts observed near Ithaca; and also in parts of Onondaga/Madison/Oneida counties
