NAM forecast large-scale forcing for lift (Q vector divergence and frontogenesis)
Notes:
This slide shows 500-300 mb Q vector convergence (green contours, convergence contoured solid), and 925-850 mb frontogenesis (positive values shaded), during the period from 00z through 12z on the 17th. The strongest forcing for lift is shown to move northeast across eastern New England. A weak region of frontogenesis is forecast to hang back over Lake Ontario, however the overall large-scale forcing for lift across central New York appears to be rather weak during this period.
