Notes:
The NAM forecast sounding at SYR valid at 03z showed a very deep layer of moisture, co-located with temperatures between -12 and -18 degrees C. This is a very favorable pattern for dendritic snow crystal development, which favors high snow to liquid ratios and heavy snow accumulations. Flow is from around 300 degrees, favoring lake effect, or lake enhance snow across central New York.
