Model forecast sounding – RME - February 5th – 12 UTC![]() Notes:The next few slides show some NAM model forecast soundings taken at a point over northern Oneida county. At 12 UTC on the 5th, strong directional shear was forecast, and the entire sounding was forecast to be -20 degrees C or colder. At this time, the model was forecasting the snow band to be just north of this forecast point. The shear was the result of backed low-level flow south of the band. The backing of the flow was associated with the enhanced southerly ageostrophic flow south of the band (discussed in previous slides).Slide 16 |
