Summary
Model forecast soundings indicated that inland locations would be too cold for dendritic crystal growth around 12 UTC on the 5th. (Temperatures between -10 and -20 degrees C are most favorable for dendritic snow crystals).
Subsequent observations (very heavy snowfall with dendritic crystals) indicate that warming may have progressed farther inland than what the NAM model was suggesting.
