SREF probability of snow – 12/10 21z run

Notes:

Precipitation type was a major issue with this storm, as warm air aloft was forecast to ride over the top of a marginally cold surface layer. The SREF probability of snow approximately 48 hours prior to the storm indicated very low probabilities of snow anywhere in New York and Pennsylvania at 18z on the 11th. A band of slightly elevated probabilities was forecast to develop across central New York by 00z on the 12th, then expand across central New York by 06z on the 12th. The band was forecast to move southeast by 12z on the 12th.
