700 mb Fn convergence and temperature
Notes:
F vector convergence occurs in areas where real-wind frontogenesis is forcing upward vertical motion. Some studies have indicated that heavy snow is favored in areas where F vector convergence occurs in a layer where temperatures are favorable for dendritic snow crystal growth. The data on these slides show that in this case, F vector convergence at 700 mb was forecast to be juxtaposed with temperatures that were favorable for dendritic snow crystal growth (across central NY).
