Notes:
This time-height cross-section of frontogenesis (positive values shaded) and vertical motion (yellow contours, upward motion dashed), from the October 28, 00z run of the NAM at a forecast point in the Catskill mountains, shows a complex evolution of forcing and lift. Time progresses from left to right on the diagram. Strong low-level frontogenesis was forecast early in the event, with strong upward vertical motion located just above the frontogenesis. The low-level frontogenesis weakens with time, however other bursts of mid-level frontogenesis can be seen later in the event event, associated with bursts of strong upward vertical motion.
