The data on this chart shows that typical tornadoes associated with mini-supercells near closed upper level lows develop in environments associated with CAPE values of about half of what is associated with “typical supercell tornadoes”. However, 0-3 km CAPE was slightly higher for the mini-supercells. Equillibrium level heights were also quite a bit lower for the mini-supercells. Shear values also tended to be lower for mini-supercells, especially deep layer shear.
