Fn convergence in the dendrite zone

Notes:

Fn vector convergence corresponds directly to frontogenetical forcing. Heavy snow often occurs in areas where Fn vector convergence is maximized in the -12 to -18 degree C (dendrite zone) layer. On these slides, the maximum Fn convergence in the dendrite zone is shown moving from central Pennsylvania and central New York at 00z on the 7th, east to eastern New York by 12z on the 7th.
