Summary
- Hurricane Sandy produced damaging winds across northeast Pennsylvania and portions of central New York on October 29th and 30th.
- Heavy rain generally by-passed the area, falling farther to the south and west.
- Changes in stability and the potential for blocking of the flow by terrain were examined, and may have impacted the evolution of the wind event in our area.
- Model soundings may have over-estimated 2000 foot winds in some cases, but the BUFKIT momentum transfer tool was useful to estimate peak gusts.
