  • A moderate to heavy snow event affected northeast Pennsylvania and central New York on December 14-15, 2013.
  • The storm was associated with a modest mid-level trough and associated surface low, but strong mid-level frontal forcing and reduced stability.
  • A change from snow to mixed precipitation at the end of the event was easily identified by dual polarization variables on the WSR-88D.
