Notes:
At 850 mb, a trough was moving east across New York state. Flow to the west of the trough over the eastern Great Lakes was from the west at 20-30 kts, shifting to south over eastern New York. Plenty of moisture was indicated on this plot, along with a weak warm-air advection pattern.
