500 mb heights, temperature and wind

Notes:

At 500 mb, the interactions between two key short-waves can be seen on this slide. At 12z (upper right), a wave can be seen over the southeast U.S., while another wave digs southeast across the western Great Lakes. By 18z (upper right), the southern wave is lifting northeast along the east coast around the east side of the wave digging southeast across the Great Lakes. By 00z (bottom) the waves have phased onto a closed low near Lake Erie.
