18Z Surface Plot
Slide 15 of 52
By 18Z, with the boundary layer now thoroughly mixed, and the low level moisture now having advanced across central New York, the surface dew points have now risen into the upper 60s and lower 70s across the region. The temperature at ELM is now 91 (a 39 degree rise in 6 hours). Also note how the highest dew point in the region is BGM at 73 degrees. BGM is at an elevation of 1600 feet, indicating that the greatest moisture was still located above the surface. At this time, no convection was taking place, with visible satellite imagery indicating only some widely scattered cumulus, primarily along the developing lake breeze boundaries to the lee of Lakes Erie and Ontario.
