The 00Z September 7th sounding at BUF now indicates a very moist low level environment. As indicated by the convective indecies in the upper right, the atmosphere is certainly unstable (LI -5; CAPE 1576; Total Totals 55, and mid level dry air present). Also, a fairly uni-directional wind profile that was increasing with height. This type of wind environment favors squall line development. However, note the capping inversion still present just below 700 mb.
