The top image in this slide is the observed rainfall. The bottom image is the 12-hour accumulated rainfall forecast from 00 to12Z from the Betts-Miller MM5 run. Countours are every 0.1 inches. The Betts-Miller run not only did a very good job forecasting the location and orientation of the precipitation field, but also vas quite accurate regarding the actual amounts.
