This time-cross section at IPT shows that the layer of unstable lapse rates at IPT was capped by very stable lapse rates just above 700. The transition from unstable lapse rates to stable lapse rates was very abrupt. The upward motion that developed just before 00 UTC was also capped by the stable air above 700 mb.
