SPC analysis of 0-3 km (low-level) CAPE shows values of 75 to 100 J/kg over the southern tier of NY at 23 UTC. Those values are slightly higher than what the BUFKIT soundings were showing, and are near the bottom end of the range where tornadoes become more favorable. However, the area where the surface vorticity (associated with the warm front) is maximized is north of the maximum low-level CAPE, and was characterized by low-level CAPES from 25 to 75 J/kg (not high values).
