By late afternoon the Eta model forecast sounding was indicating moderately high instability, a weak cap, and plenty of dry air aloft. Deep, moderately strong shear was still indicated, with a 5 km storm relative wind of 13 m/s (26 kts, favorable for tornadoes). The shape of the hodograph was trending toward anticyclonic, which implied that right moving supercells would be favored.
