Plan view of Meso-eta 6-hr 2-D frontogenesis (dark blue contours) and mean layer (850-500 mb) saturated EPV (with weakly stable (just above zero) and unstable (negative) values shaded), valid at 00z, 9/09/04. These two fields match best over western PA at this time, which correlates well with observed heavy rainfall.
