Summary and Conclusions

  • The combination of heavy rain (2 to 3 inches, with localized 5 inch amounts) and very favorable antecedent conditions resulted in a major flood across central New York and northeast Pennsylvania on April 2-3, 2005.

  • The event transitioned from a stratiform event with embedded heavier bands, to a convective event early on the 3rd.
