Eta forecast sounding at SYR valid 03/00z

This 6 hour Eta forecast sounding, valid at 00z on the 3rd, shows many characteristics favorable for significant lake effect snow in the Syracuse area. Specifically, a deep flow from around 290 degrees is indicated, along with an inversion base well above 850 mb. The dendritic snow growth area (indicated by the yellow line on the sounding) was about 50 mb deep. However, note that the lowest 100 mb of the sounding are rather dry.
