This 12 hour forecast Syracuse sounding, valid at 06z on the 3rd, appears to be even more favorable for significant snow in the Syracuse area. The flow remained from the favorable 290 degree direction, and the inversion base remained well above 850 mb. Meanwhile, the low-levels cooled, indicating more instability over the lake. The low-levels also moistened, and the dendritic snow growth layer (indicated by the yellow line on the sounding) deepened.
