RUC 500 mb heights and vorticity analysis at 01/06 UTC

At 01/06 UTC, a 500 mb closed low was indicated over western Indiana, with a secondary short wave rotating northeastward up the east coast over southern New England. A comparison between this analysis, and the model forecasts shown earlier, indicates that neither model was quite sharp enough with the secondary short-wave trough, however the NAM appeared to be closer.
