Speaker Notes:

The schematic at the lower left of this slide shows a cross-section of a typical, well organized, downwind propagating convective system. In an environment with strong low-level shear, lift is enhanced at the leading edge of the cold pool. The rising parcels are lifted above the cold pool, then fall back behind the surface boundary as they encounter weaker shear aloft. The result is a tilted updraft like the one shown in the schematic in the lower left portion of this slide.
