Weak regions of southeast-northwest sloped frontogenesis were indicated along the cross-section shown on this slide. At this time, flash flooding was occurring near Binghamton, near an area where upward motion indicated by the ageostrophic circulation streamlines was co-located with instability (negative theta-e lapse rates – shaded purple).
