Summary - Dynamical / Thermodynamic Forcing
This event was associated with...
Persistent upper-tropospheric divergence associated with the right entrance region of an upper-level jet streak.
A strong (30 to 40 kt) southerly low-level jet.
A persistent axis of very high (around 2.00 inches) precipitable water.
A persistent southeast to northwest sloping frontal zone. The intensity of the front varied during the course of the event and tended to be weakest during the isolated convective portions of the event.
Deep moisture, with large warm cloud depths.
CAPE values were small in general – mixed layer CAPE was very small at night and increased to moderate levels during the day.
0-2 km shear was large (due to the presence of the low-level jet). Shear above 2 km was small.
