Summary

• GFS algorithm output was slightly better than output from the NAM on December 16.

• Algorithm output from the two models was about equal in quality on February 1st.

• Algorithms seemed to have a “cold bias” (over-forecasting frozen vs. freezing/liquid). Exception was GFS Bourgoin, which had a “warm bias”.
