Theta-e and theta-e lapse rate cross-section

Notes:

The cross sections on these slides were taken from east to west across the baroclinic zone from eastern New England through western New York. The sloping frontal zone can be seen by examining the east to west upward slope of the equivalent potential temperature contours. Instability above the front appeared to maximize early on the 25th, then decreased between 12z on the 25th and 00z on the 26th. Instability aloft then increased just ahead of a cold front aloft that came in from the east during the early morning hours on the 26th.
