Soundings at SYR

Notes:

NAM forecast soundings at Syracuse indicated a very persistent pattern. The flow was between 300 and 310 degrees for 2 days, which is slightly more northerly than the 290 to 300 degree flow which is traditionally most favorable for heavy snow at Syracuse. The inversion was low; between 850 and 900 mb for most of the event, but synoptic scale moisture was deep and the dendritic crystal growth layer was deep throughout the event.
