Peak winds - midnight to midnight on August 28th.

Notes:

Peak winds in most of the area ranged were mostly 30 to 40 mph, with a couple of isolated gusts past 50 mph in the Poconos and Catskills. These winds were sufficient to produce widespread power outages across the area, as the winds blew for several hours on trees that were weakly rooted in saturated ground. More detailed surveys of damage did indicate some localized “streaks” of more intense damage, that did not appear to be tornadic, but that did indicate localized areas of stronger winds.
