March 5, 12z GFS forecast and median snowfall from historical analogs

Notes:

This slide, with data courtesy of the CIPS historical winter storm analog program at Saint Louis University, shows the GFS forecast made on 12z March 5th, valid 12z March 7th. The median snowfall from 15 similar, historical analogs is shown on the right. Note that heavy snow often occurs with these types of events, but typically the heavy snow falls over northern and central New England, as opposed to New York and Pennsylvania.
