Notes:
A cross-section through the zone of frontogenesis showed a classic pattern for bands of heavier snow, with a zone of reduced stability (negative EPV, shaded blue) located above the sloping zone of frontogenesis (white contours). Upward motion (light yellow contours) above the frontogenesis extended upward into the area of reduced stability.
