Summary

  • Intense hurricane Sandy moved west from southern New Jersey toward southern Pennsylvania late on the 29th into the 30th.
  • Heaviest rain fell well to the south of our forecast area and was associated with an intense band of frontogenesis.
  • Peak wind gusts were mostly 40 to 60 mph with a few higher gusts, especially in northeast Pennsylvania.
  • The main impact of the storm for our area was power outages, especially in northeast Pennsylvania and Sullivan county, New York.
