The first slide shows data from the strong front lifting north across eastern New York at 18z on the 9th. A strong, deep frontal boundary is indicated, sloping from south to north. Small lapse rates above the front indicate the potential for banded precipitation within the ascending branch of the frontal circulation. The second slide shows frontogenesis and lapse rate over central New York at 12z on the 10th. The front over central and western New York is much shallower than the front on the 9th, however a band of reduced lapse rates above the front again indicates the potential for some banded precipitation.
