500 mb heights and vorticity
Notes:
Pennsylvania and New York were located in an area of northwest mid-level flow around the northeast side of a strong upper ridge over the central U.S. on July 22nd. The main short wave energy was well to the north, but a couple of weak short waves were forecast to move southeast across the area in the northwesterly flow.
