Summary

  • A very unusual winter storm effected central NY and northeast Pa on November 20 through the 21st.
  • The event was associated with a stream of mid-level moisture originating over the Atlantic ocean.
  • Snowfall was strongly enhanced by low-level flow over the Great Lakes, including a Georgian Bay connection.
  • Performance of the high resolution models and ensembles was generally good. The 4 km NAM appeared to out-perform the HRRR.
