Summary
Barry would fall within the “Southeast Recurvature” category for TC’s associated with PRE
- “Left of track” PRE most common with this scenario
- “PRE-Like” activity did occur left of Barry’s path from June 1st through 3rd
Some typically present PRE ingredients were lacking, despite decent moisture transport
- Weak jet dynamics, lack of mid-level confluence / short-wave support, ill-defined boundaries
- This is why the term “PRE-like” has been used
- Even so, isolated flash flooding did occur
Should we categorize weakly forced vs. strongly forced PRE?
- Mesoscale / orographic forcing perhaps takes on greater significance in weakly forced cases (Typical for ROT PRE?)
