Many environmental factors observed on this day were consistent with data typically observed in association with forward propagating convective systems.

The combination of dry air at mid-levels and very unstable air downstream of the developing convective system was favorable for a forward propagating system.

Shear was moderately strong, and mainly confined to the 0-3 km layer.

The orientation of the shear was perpendicular to a boundary.
